2011 Testarossa Winery Lone Oak Vineyard Santa Lucia Highlands Chardonnay 750 ml

2011 Testarossa Winery Lone Oak Vineyard Santa Lucia Highlands Chardonnay 750 ml

The growing season in the Santa Lucia Highlands in 2011 was one of the coolest and wettest on record. Happily, most of the fall rains that impacted other growing regions bypassed the SLH. The fruit was able to hang as long as necessary to achieve phenolic ripeness - flavor and acidity matched to the necessary sugar levels. The Chardonnay blocks at Lone Oak were picked in mid-October.

2006 DuNah Vineyard & Winery Chardonnay Tre Cuvee Sonoma Coast 750 mL

2006 DuNah Vineyard & Winery Chardonnay Tre Cuvee Sonoma Coast 750 mL

This is a cuvee made from the grapes of 3 vineyards using 8 clones and a careful selection of the best resulting barrel lots. It is a showcase of Russian River Valley and Sonoma Coast fruit. The free-run juices underwent predominantly wild yeast fermentations in 100% French oak barrels (33% new) for 11 months with sur lies aging. First impression on the nose is one of fine balance between floral and fruit tones, commingling with feral and visceral scents. This evolves in the glass to spicy, toasty grilled almonds and hints of yellow tree fruits. The mouth gives deep, rich layers of textured fruit and complexity, later melding seamlessly into creamy visceral sensual pleasure. The aftertaste carries the marvelous sensual texture into the late finish. 14.1% alcohol 279 cases produced

2011 The Ojai Vineyard Puerta Del Mar Chardonnay 750 mL

2011 The Ojai Vineyard Puerta Del Mar Chardonnay 750 mL

Ok, slow down, take a deep breath and relax. This wine is subtle and if you are in a hurry you're going to miss a real gem. At this point the 2011 Puerta del Mar chardonnay has a delicate and alluring aroma of violets with a bit of stoniness, but those patient enough will see the wine blossom into something very special as it ages. My test for restrained cool climate white wines is the Sunday chicken dinner: a tender three pound free range chicken, oven roasted at 425 degrees with peeled potatoes and mushroom gravy. This Puerta del Mar Chardonnay shined through the meal offering a rich lemony character and a juicy fresh, mouth watering flavor.

2011 Clos Pegase Chardonnay Mitsuko’s Vineyard Carneros – Napa Valley 750 mL

2011 Clos Pegase Chardonnay Mitsuko

During early autumn, the fruit maintained an ideal path to ripeness, with great flavor development even at lower sugar levels. However, following an ideal early harvest period, rains began arriving in early October, a turn of events requiring extreme measures in the vineyard, including removal of weather-damaged clusters and additional leaf pulling to expose clusters to drying breezes. Thankfully, the well-drained soils of our Estate vineyards allowed us to weather the storms without quality impact. Our vigilance and determination in the vineyard resulted in a small crop of high quality fruit demonstrating great freshness, vibrancy and balance which was able to be harvested and nurtured into the building blocks of our wine. Our Chardonnay was night harvested by hand with table sorting of clusters in the vineyard under high intensity lamps. The grapes arrived at the winery in the wee hours of the morning for immediate gentle and controlled whole cluster pressing, ensuring the highest qu

California Pinot Noir (World Vineyard)

California Pinot Noir (World Vineyard)

World Vineyard California Pinot Noir creates a lasting impression on the palate with an intense ripe-grape and black cherry aroma, accented by a spicy suggestion of cinnamon and mint. Medium-full bodied and rich but not heavy, it's perfectly balanced with alcohol acid and tannin working harmoniously, and has substantial flavor despite its delicacy. It has an appealing soft, velvety texture, like liquid silk gently caressing the palate.
